The college started as a training center, later established a Teachers College and has now established a Medical Training Campus for non teaching courses. Initially MONG`ARE College was established with the primary objective of training skilled personnel, to not only teach in Educational Institutions, but, also for employment in all sectors of the economy. With the mushrooming of more Educational Institutions; introduction of Primary Education for all, opening of private and other Government Training Institutes, pharmacy shops, dispensaries, health centers and hospitals the demand for trained teachers as well as for medical personnel’s has always been on the increase. As a result, there has been more demand for trained educational and medical professionals who can offer various services in the health sectors hence the needy for medical training colleges such as Mong`are Medical Training College and teachers training colleges such as Mong`are Teachers College.
Mong`are Teachers College opened its doors to the first students after it got full registration from the Government.Since then, the college has continued to develop, in terms of courses and student enrollment. It is among the leading colleges of this kind in Hai and Siha Districts of Kilimanjaro Province. Mong`are College derives its authority from the Provisions of the Vocational Education and Training Cap 82 (Revised in 2006) under which it has duly been granted registration Number VET/KLM/PR/2013/C/025 by The Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA Tanzania)Education Act Cap 211 (revised in 1980) and Legal registrations by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) Registration Number REG/TLF/013, National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), Registration Number BM.0654 , as well as the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA);which mandates it to offer teacher education and other courses in the country.
The bulk of teaching staffs are Basic Degree and Masters Degree Holders Trainers. However, immediate steps shall be taken and improvements on recruitment of more qualified human resources personnel will be done as students admission increase for NTA Level 6. The College is situated a short distance from the Bomang`ombe Town Centre off Moshi – Arusha Road,4kms along the Bomang`ombe-Rundugai road, Hai District, Kilimanjaro Region.The college campuses are around 10-20 kms from the Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) and 4 to 8kms from the Bomang`ombe Local Town with a small campus at the heart of Bomang`ombe town. The college and its campuses / centres offers training at Certificate to Diploma Levels in Nursery Teacher Education, Primary Teacher Education, Secondary Teacher Education, Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine, NECTA Tanzania Private Candidates including Qualifying Test (QT) Candidates, Form IV Repeaters, A-Level Private Candidates, Computer Course and ICT as well as English Course for both genders, days and boarding with hostels inside and outside the college.You can easily view Mount Kilimanjaro from the college while enjoying studies, visit Chemka Hotspring and engage in various community activities such as tree planting, offering medical services or training them on other social issues while enjoying their Maasai Culture.
